Job Title: Event Coordinator & Gaming Specialist
Position Overview:
We are seeking a self-motivated, task-oriented, and communicative individual to help manage and coordinate in-store gaming events. Our store has been a trusted name in the gaming community for 9 years, and with our new location, we are looking for someone to continue our legacy of exceptional service while working closely with the owners. This is a hands-on position requiring experience with competitive trading card games (TCGs) and organized play. Strong communication and social media skills (including Discord) are essential, and the ideal candidate will take initiative and work efficiently within a collaborative environment.
Important Note: This position will begin as a part-time role of 20 hours a week, and the ability to work weekends and evenings is a must.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Coordination:
- Collaborate with the owners to plan, organize, and run weekly or monthly gaming events, including tournaments and casual play sessions.
- Handle event logistics, including player registration, bracket setup, and prize distribution.
- Act as a judge or facilitator during events, ensuring fair play and resolving disputes in a professional manner.
- Customer Service & Retail Operations:
- Provide excellent customer service, assisting customers with product selection, game advice, and general inquiries.
- Process transactions and restock products as needed, maintaining an organized and welcoming store.
- Ensure the store remains clean and well-organized, offering an inviting environment for all customers.
- Community Engagement & Marketing:
- Promote events, store specials, and new products on social media platforms, including Discord, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Engage with the gaming community, fostering excitement and participation in store events.
- Collaboration & Responsibility:
- Work closely with store owners to ensure events run smoothly and efficiently.
- Take initiative in handling tasks independently while maintaining a high level of responsibility and reliability.
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt, solve problems, and communicate effectively with the team and customers.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience with competitive TCGs (e.g., Magic the Gathering, Pokémon, Warhammer, etc.) and/or organized play events.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships and manage conflicts in a friendly manner.
- Self-motivated and task-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (including Discord) and experience with online community engagement.
- Retail or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
- Passion for gaming and a desire to create an inclusive and welcoming environment.
